Ocean Network Express Acquires Stake in Jakarta Terminal
Japanese shipping company Ocean Network Express (ONE) has acquired a minority stake in New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT1) in Jakarta, Indonesia. The purchase price for the stake was not disclosed.
Established in 2016, NPCT1 has an annual capacity of 1.5 million TEUs and is equipped to handle the largest ships in operation today. The terminal's other shareholders include Pelindo II, Mitsui & Co, and PSA International.
Jakarta is ONE's third-largest port in Southeast Asia by volume. The company stated that this acquisition enhances its presence in the regional supply chain and ensures access to terminal capacity in this key market.
ONE, with significant cash reserves, has been expanding its global terminal investments. A year ago, the company acquired stakes in terminals in Europe and on the U.S. West Coast, further strengthening its global footprint.
