On July 23, the luxury megayacht RC Ilma made its inaugural stop at the Port of Gothenburg as part of its maiden voyage. During the visit, the vessel also carried out a successful LNG bunkering operation, showcasing the port’s advanced LNG fueling capabilities.

The bunkering was performed by Coralius, an LNG bunkering vessel operated by Sirius Shipping, with the fuel supplied by Gasum. This operation reflects the port’s commitment to supporting sustainable maritime practices.

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is a significantly cleaner alternative to conventional marine fuel. It can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 20% to 30%, completely eliminate sulphur oxide emissions, cut nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 80%, and substantially reduce particulate matter.

Measuring 241 meters in length and boasting a gross tonnage of 46,750, RC Ilma is a state-of-the-art megayacht powered by dual-fuel engines capable of running on both marine gas oil and LNG. The vessel also includes advanced onboard water treatment systems to reduce its environmental impact.

Operated by the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, the yacht features 224 suites accommodating 448 guests, along with 374 crew members. Guests onboard have access to five restaurants, six bars, a wine vault, a fully equipped gym, and an aft marina.

The LNG bunkering at Gothenburg marks another milestone in the maritime industry's move toward cleaner fuel solutions and more environmentally conscious operations.
