Samsung Expands Longstanding Partnership with Royal Caribbean
Samsung Electronics has delivered more than 6,000 televisions and digital displays to Royal Caribbean International’s Star of the Seas.
A company announcement noted that these hospitality TVs and Smart Signage displays are now in use throughout the vessel, including guest staterooms, crew accommodations and shared spaces such as lounges and theaters.
The collaboration represents another step in a relationship that has seen Samsung provide display solutions to Royal Caribbean for over 21 years.
Star of the Seas, the second vessel in the cruise line’s Icon-class, began sailing from Port Canaveral in August.
“What we’ve achieved with Royal Caribbean over the past 20 years is a testament to our shared commitment to innovation and delivering world-class experiences to guests,” said Hoon Chung, executive vice president of the visual display business at Samsung Electronics.
“As demand for richer entertainment experiences rises, we’re proud to deliver our most dynamic commercial displays to the Star of the Seas and look forward to expanding our collaboration in the years ahead,” he added.
Since 2004, more than 200,000 Samsung hospitality TVs and Smart Signage displays have been installed across 28 Royal Caribbean ships. This total includes over 6,000 units supplied to Icon of the Seas, the first ship in the class, which entered service in early 2024.
Samsung said the partnership is supported by its 17 straight years as the global leader in the commercial display sector.
For Star of the Seas, Samsung equipped guest cabins with its Crystal UHD Hospitality TVs. The company stated that these models feature Dynamic Crystal Color technology, capable of showcasing more than one billion colors.
Each cabin TV also acts as an information portal, offering a custom welcome message for each traveler, a daily schedule of onboard activities, port details, weather updates and emergency alerts, along with access to previously aired programs and announcements.
Public spaces onboard feature Samsung’s ultra-slim UHD Smart Signage QMC series, designed to deliver detailed visuals while conserving space.
Samsung recently introduced a new hospitality TV, the HF8000F, aimed at compact environments such as crew cabins, hospitals and small hotel rooms. The 24-inch display is designed as a simplified option compatible with remote management and other advanced features.
