Viridien, formerly known as CGG, has introduced a new multi-client seismic reimaging initiative focused on Angola’s offshore block 22 ahead of the country’s upcoming licensing round.

The project covers 4,300 sq km of high-quality seismic data aimed at improving understanding of largely unexplored structures along the Atlantic Hinge zone. This area follows the same geological trend as the established Cameia and Golfinho discoveries.

Preliminary fast-track results are expected in the first quarter of 2026, with the final deliverables planned for release in the third and fourth quarters of the same year.

Viridien will apply its latest proprietary reimaging technologies to the block 22 data set. The new survey will complement the company’s existing 2,900 sq km of coverage over nearby block 20/11, giving energy companies access to more than 7,200 sq km of modern broadband PSDM data. This expanded regional view will support evaluation of both pre-salt and post-salt plays across the Kwanza Basin.
