AIDAprima Hosts Winter Sports Cruise to Oslo
Yesterday, March 12, AIDAprima welcomed passengers for a short winter sports cruise to Oslo. The current voyage, running from March 12 to March 17, includes a two-day stop in the Norwegian capital, where World Cup competitions in ski jumping, cross-country skiing, and Nordic combined will take place next weekend at Holmenkollen.
Another similar cruise is scheduled from March 17 to March 22, timed to coincide with the Biathlon World Cup in Oslo. For both voyages, the onboard entertainment and activities aboard AIDAprima are centered around winter sports.
Several well-known athletes are expected to appear on board as guest experts, including sports legends Sven Hannawald, Jens Weißflog, Maria Höfl-Riesch, and Martin Schmitt, along with leading biathletes Magdalena Neuner and Kati Wilhelm. Guests will have the chance to attend talks, autograph sessions, and joint events, as well as hear personal stories and insights into professional sports.
This winter marks the first time AIDAprima has sailed from Kiel during the season, after its originally planned winter deployment in the Orient was cancelled. During the Advent period, the ship operated cruises visiting Christmas markets around the Baltic Sea.
At the beginning of the year, it completed a longer winter voyage to the Canary Islands before continuing sailings in Scandinavia and the Baltic region through the Easter period. The new short cruises connected to winter sports events in Oslo are also a recent addition to the AIDA Cruises program.
At present, there are no plans to continue winter cruises from Kiel beyond this season. However, because AIDAprima is scheduled to return to the Orient next winter and the security situation linked to the ongoing war could affect travel in the region, another winter deployment from Kiel for the 2026–27 season cannot be completely ruled out.
