On 6 July, a minor release of liquid ammonia occurred during cargo loading aboard the Eco Wizard tanker at Ust-Luga port in Russia’s Leningrad Region, according to the Russian Ministry of Transport.
The leak prompted the evacuation of all 23 crew members as a safety precaution. Officials confirmed that no one was injured, and all loading activities were promptly halted.
Emergency teams at the terminal responded to the situation, while the Russian maritime rescue agency was placed on high alert in case further action was needed. A diver-led inspection of the ship is planned to determine whether the leak caused any structural issues or safety risks.
