A Mediterranean voyage turned tragic when a 61-year-old British woman was discovered dead in her cabin aboard a cruise ship anchored off the coast of Cannes, France, late on Saturday night. According to Var-Matin, the body was found around 12:30 a.m. while the vessel was stationed near the Lérins Islands, just off the Croisette.

The ship’s medical team responded immediately, and the onboard doctor attempted to revive the woman for more than half an hour. Despite these efforts, her pulse did not return, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following protocol, crew members contacted local authorities, including the maritime gendarmerie and Cannes police. Officers arrived at the vessel via an inflatable boat to perform standard procedures and arrange for the woman’s body to be brought ashore. After examination by a coroner, the body was transferred by firefighters to the Cannes burial site before being released to her family.

Investigators have ruled out foul play, confirming that the passenger most likely died from a heart attack. The woman had been traveling with her family to celebrate her husband’s birthday, a celebration that ended in sudden and heartbreaking loss.
