Bulk Carrier Eternity C Attacked in Red Sea Waters

On July 7, the Eternity C, a bulk carrier sailing under the Liberian flag, came under attack in the Red Sea. The assault involved fast boats and sea drones, and occurred roughly 50 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah port. The incident followed a similar strike on the Magic Seas just one day earlier, underscoring growing maritime security concerns in the region.
Operated by the Greek company Cosmoship Management, the Eternity C had 22 crew members onboard at the time, consisting of 21 Filipinos and one Russian national, the company confirmed to Reuters.
A subsequent update delivered to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on July 8 by Liberia’s shipping delegation confirmed that two crew members were killed in the attack.
Cosmoship Management also reported that two other seafarers sustained serious injuries. The assault involved multiple skiffs and unmanned sea drones, one of which struck the ship’s bridge. The impact severely disrupted the vessel’s communications systems.
An official from the EU’s naval mission, Operation Aspides, stated that four rocket-propelled grenades were fired at the Eternity C from four high-speed boats.
As of now, no group has stepped forward to take responsibility for the assault.
