Several Carnival Corporation brands are preparing to launch mid-life ship refurbishment projects modeled after AIDA’s Evolution drydock initiative.

“I expect actually some of our other brands to be embarking on similar exercises and initiatives to really up the game of their of their ships that might be 15 years old or so,” said CEO Josh Weinstein during the company’s third-quarter earnings call.

Weinstein noted that one 2,000-berth ship has already completed its AIDA Evolution refit, with results proving highly positive.

Initially planned for three ships, the program has since expanded to cover all seven vessels in AIDA’s Sphinx class.

Weinstein also revealed that discussions are already underway with other brands in the group. “I sat through a session last week with another one of our brands that will be doing something similar in vein to how AIDA is thinking about their midlife ship refurbishment program. So we are actively in the middle of that,” he said.
