Carnival Cruise Line has donated over 1,000 towels to support children learning to swim in Vanuatu, according to a company statement.

With Vanuatu having one of the highest drowning rates globally, the cruise line is also contributing funding for swimming lessons through its guest-supported Pacific Partnerships program.

“Carnival guests love visiting Vanuatu, and this towel donation is one way we can give back to the community who warmly welcomes our ships throughout the year,” said Carnival’s vice president external affairs Sandy Olsen.

The towels were delivered during a port call in Port Vila on Sunday, March 29, by crew members from Carnival Adventure. Those involved in the handover included Hotel Director Bas van Es, Food & Beverage Director Larisa Rose, and Environmental Officer Rado Lyubenov.

The donation was received by Busi Neill of the Paradise Swim and Arts Academy, which will distribute the towels to children participating in its swimming programs. The academy aims to teach 600 children how to swim this year, with lessons already underway.
