ONE Expands Port Investments With Thailand Terminal Stake
Japan’s Ocean Network Express (ONE) is reinvesting profits from recent years into strengthening its global port network.
The Singapore-based container line has announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire a 30 percent stake in Hutchison Laem Chabang Terminal Limited (HLT) in Thailand. The move follows closely on the heels of a separate investment in a terminal in Busan, South Korea. Financial details of the latest deal have not been disclosed.
Hiroki Tsujii, global chief officer of ONE’s product and network division, said, “By deepening our partnership with Hutchison Ports, customers can benefit from enhanced reliability and efficient solutions within this essential trade hub.”
Hutchison Ports has been working to divest a number of its global terminal assets for over a year.
