Carnival Dream Sets Sail on Extended Journeys Cruises
Carnival Dream departed Galveston earlier this month to begin a special 14-night voyage to the Southern Caribbean and Central America.
Sailing under Carnival’s Journeys program, the ship is scheduled to call at seven ports before returning to Texas. Key stops on the two-week itinerary include Cartagena de Indias in Colombia, Willemstad in Curaçao, and Oranjestad in Aruba. Additional destinations on the route feature Cozumel in Mexico, Puerto Limón in Costa Rica, Montego Bay in Jamaica, and Colón in Panama.
After arriving back in Galveston in late January, Carnival Dream is set to embark on a second Journeys sailing. This 14-night cruise focuses on the Eastern Caribbean, the Bahamas, and Florida. Departing from Texas, the itinerary includes calls at Key West and San Juan, St. Croix and St. Thomas, as well as Philipsburg in St. Maarten, Ocho Rios in Jamaica, and Basseterre in St. Kitts.
A highlight of the cruise is a stop at Celebration Key, Carnival’s new private island destination on Grand Bahama.
Carnival describes its Journeys cruises as special sailings “made to amaze,” offering “great destinations” and “less-travelled” routes. Along with longer itineraries and additional ports, the cruises feature onboard programming inspired by classic cruising, including events such as the “Throwback Sea Day.”
Following the two sailings, Carnival Dream is scheduled to return briefly to its regular rotation of six- to eight-night cruises to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean and in mid-February, the ship will operate a transatlantic crossing ahead of a routine drydock in Europe.
Sailing as part of Carnival’s SEA adults-only program, the 15-night voyage travels from Texas to Barcelona, Spain, with calls at Bermuda, Gibraltar, Málaga, and Alicante.
The 2009-built vessel is also scheduled to offer a similar transatlantic crossing in late March before returning to Galveston in early April.
