Carnival Honored With Two Seattle Sustainability Awards
Carnival Corporation and Carnival Cruise Line have received two Sustainable Century Awards from the Port of Seattle in recognition of their environmental initiatives and commitment to more sustainable operations.
Carnival Corporation was presented with the Environmental Performance Award for its involvement in the Quiet Sound program. The initiative encourages vessels transiting Washington State’s Admiralty Inlet to reduce speed in an effort to lower underwater noise levels that can impact the endangered Southern Resident killer whale population.
According to Quiet Sound, Carnival Corporation recorded the highest participation rate among the cruise operators taking part in the program.
Carnival Cruise Line received the Environmental Innovation Award for its “Our Sea Pledge” sustainability initiative. The program has played a significant role in reducing food waste across the fleet, with food waste generated per guest falling by more than 50 percent since 2019.
The cruise line has also achieved notable results in reducing single-use packaging. Through closed-loop systems, it has eliminated more than 116,000 glass bottles while recycling over 25 million pounds of materials during 2025.
The awards recognize the ongoing efforts of both Carnival Corporation and Carnival Cruise Line to enhance environmental performance and advance sustainability initiatives onboard their ships and within the communities they serve.
