COOEC Wins $800M PTTEP Contract for Thai Offshore Work
China Offshore Oil Engineering Co. (COOEC), a subsidiary of CNOOC, has secured a major contract from Thailand’s PTTEP for the construction of a wellhead platform and subsea pipelines.
Valued at approximately $800 million, the agreement covers the Bundled Phases 4 EPCI turnkey platform and marine management project. The work will be carried out under a long-term framework agreement between the two companies.
According to PTTEP, offshore deliveries of the wellhead platforms and subsea pipelines will take place between 2027 and 2029 through a series of annual orders.
Under the EPCI contract, COOEC will be responsible for engineering design, procurement, construction, offshore transportation, installation, and commissioning.
This marks the second offshore EPCI project awarded by PTTEP to COOEC. The company previously completed four wellhead platforms for the Zawtika 1B gas field off the coast of Myanmar. The new project is scheduled to run from 2025 through 2029.
The award follows closely after COOEC secured a separate EPC contract valued at around $4 billion for QatarEnergy’s Bul Hanine offshore oil field. That project involves the design, construction, installation, and commissioning of more than 60 offshore oil and gas facilities, along with 40 subsea pipelines and cables. It also includes retrofitting existing infrastructure and decommissioning outdated platforms.
