The Costa Fortuna, scheduled to leave the Costa Cruises fleet in 2026, as we reported yesterday, has officially been acquired by Margaritaville at Sea, marking a major expansion move for the growing cruise line.

The purchase was announced by Margaritaville at Sea CEO Christopher Ivy, who cited strong guest return rates and favorable business performance as key motivators for the brand’s continued growth.

Expected to join the Margaritaville fleet in late 2026 or early 2027, the Costa Fortuna will become the largest ship in the company’s lineup. With a gross tonnage of over 102,500 and the ability to carry approximately 3,450 passengers, it offers about 30% more capacity than the line’s current vessel, Margaritaville Paradise, which holds 2,650 guests.

"We can do more in terms of new concepts, new venues," Ivy said, noting that the ship will incorporate popular features from Margaritaville's existing offerings while also introducing fresh ideas.

While the ship’s future name and homeport have yet to be announced, Margaritaville at Sea has confirmed it will undergo extensive renovations to match the brand’s signature tropical vibe and laid-back atmosphere.

Ivy also teased future plans, suggesting the company may create a space dedicated to honoring “heroes,” such as military members, healthcare workers, and law enforcement personnel.

Until the official handover, Costa Cruises will continue sailing the Costa Fortuna through late 2026. After that, Margaritaville at Sea will begin transforming the vessel ahead of its relaunch under the new banner.
