A 31-year-old crewman aboard a Bahamas-registered cruise vessel sustained a leg injury while the ship was docked in Santorini on Sunday, June 15, according to reports from local media. The crew member, who worked in the engine department, was hurt while making his way down the stairs to the engine room.

The accident occurred during the afternoon and was reported by the ship’s local agent to the Thira Port Authority. It is believed the crewman slipped and fell while descending the stairwell, injuring his left leg.

Emergency response procedures were promptly initiated. The injured seafarer was transferred to Athinios port aboard the passenger-tourist boat Lanza, where he was met by an EKAB ambulance and taken to a nearby private clinic for immediate medical care. He was later transferred to a hospital in Athens for further evaluation.

Authorities have not released the seafarer's name, nationality, or the cruise ship’s identity. However, tracking data from June 15 shows that two cruise ships were present in Santorini that day: Norwegian Epic and Celestyal Discovery. Of the two, only Norwegian Epic sails under the Bahamian flag and is currently operating a 10-day itinerary across the Eastern Mediterranean.

An initial inquiry into the incident is underway, led by the Thira Port Authority. Investigators have not yet disclosed any findings or contributing factors related to the fall.
