DP World Port Botany Gates to Close During Industrial Action

DP World will temporarily close the gates at its Port Botany terminal for four hours on Friday as protected industrial action impacts landside operations at Australia’s busiest container port.

The terminal will stop accepting vehicles from noon on July 24, with gates scheduled to reopen at 4 p.m. The final vehicle processing window before the closure will be at 11 a.m.

DP World has urged transport operators to ensure trucks arrive before midday, warning that vehicles arriving after the closure begins will be turned away.

The disruption is linked to industrial action by the Maritime Union of Australia against security provider Certis Security, rather than DP World itself. However, the action will still affect access to the company’s terminal at Port Botany in Sydney.

The temporary shutdown is expected to cause delays to truck movements and container collections during one of the day’s busiest periods, increasing the likelihood of missed booking slots and slower cargo pickups.

The four-hour closure is the latest in an ongoing series of industrial actions involving Certis Security at Port Botany and DP World said it will continue to monitor the situation and provide further operational updates if conditions change.
