Fire Contained on LCT Lily Princess in Philippines Port

A fire broke out on the LCT Lily Princess, a cargo vessel docked at Sorcom Private Port in the Philippines, on July 9.
The blaze began in the ship’s galley and quickly intensified, prompting a swift emergency response. The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) mobilized immediately, with local coast guard units joining forces with fire services to combat the flames.
Additional agencies, including the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and the Marine Environmental Protection Enforcement and Response Group Bicol (MEPERG-BCL), were alerted to oversee the situation. Their main concern was monitoring for any oil discharges or the release of other harmful substances.
Fortunately, the fire was brought under control, and all crew members were safely evacuated. One crew member suffered a minor injury and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The PCG, along with relevant authorities, has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
