Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has supported the installation of a public defibrillator at Liverpool’s Pier Head.

The 24-hour publicly accessible device was officially unveiled on March 12. To accompany the installation, a CPR training session was held for local community stakeholders onboard the cruise line’s vessel Bolette.

According to a press release, the equipment was funded in partnership with the Heart 2 Heart charity, which works to expand access to defibrillators and increase awareness of CPR within local communities.

“Having accessible defibrillators close by can make all the difference in an emergency, and it means a great deal to us to support Heart 2 Heart in making sure they’re available where they’re needed most,” said Fred. Olsen CEO Samantha Stimpson.

“This new installation on Liverpool’s waterfront is an important step in that commitment. Working with Liverpool Cruise Port and Mersey Ferries, we’ve also been able to coordinate CPR training for their teams, equipping them with vital, lifesaving skills and helping to build confidence to step in and help when it really matters.”

The defibrillator installation is part of the Community Engagement and Sustainability partnership between Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines and Liverpool Cruise Port. The company noted that this initiative is the first of several community-focused projects planned under the partnership during the coming year.

Fred. Olsen also highlighted its ongoing support for the Heart 2 Heart charity since 2022, during which time it has helped raise more than £43,000.
