Greenock Cruise Port Celebrates Record Breaking Season
Greenock Cruise Port has wrapped up its most successful season ever, according to a press release.
In its first year managed by Global Ports Holding, the port hosted 82 cruise calls and welcomed 145,166 passengers. This included six inaugural visits from lines such as Ambassador Cruise Line, Atlas Ocean Voyages, Ritz-Carlton, SunStone Ships and Virgin Voyages.
The port said this year’s growth marks a major rise in passenger volume compared to previous seasons, bringing economic gains to local shops, tour companies, transport providers and cultural attractions.
“2025 has been a landmark year for Greenock Cruise Port. Our first season has exceeded expectations, thanks to strong collaboration with cruise lines, local stakeholders, and the wider community,” said John Mawer, GPH UK cruise ports general manager.
“We are committed to building on this success by investing in infrastructure, enhancing the passenger experience, and creating even greater value for our partners and the region,” he added.
The port also reported improvements in turnaround performance, guest satisfaction and safety measures.
Looking to the months ahead, Greenock Cruise Port plans to begin an off season upgrade program that will include a redesigned terminal and a revised layout aimed at strengthening homeport operations.
“These enhancements will strengthen wayfinding, connectivity, and community engagement, ensuring visitors enjoy the very best of Scotland’s west coast,” the port said.
Further expansion is expected in 2026, with 75 scheduled calls and roughly 145,000 passengers projected.
Situated on Scotland’s west coast along the River Clyde, Greenock Cruise Port provides access to Glasgow and the Scottish Highlands, positioning it as a key call for Northern European and British Isles itineraries linking the UK, Ireland and Nordic destinations.
