Hero of the Seas to Debut New Features at 2027 Launch
Royal Caribbean International’s upcoming ship, Hero of the Seas, is set to introduce a range of new features when it enters service in 2027.
According to a recent press release, the fourth vessel in the Icon class will “raise the bar with more records and iconic ways for families to make lifelong memories.”
The 250,800-ton ship is expected to feature the highest number of swimming pools in the fleet, including a new addition at The Hideaway, an adults-only sun deck. Another new area, Coconut Cove, will be located near the brand’s signature tropical venue, The Lime and the Coconut.
Several popular features from earlier Icon-class ships will return, including Crown’s Edge, a combination of skywalk and zip line experience positioned 154 feet above the ocean, and the FlowRider Surf Simulator. The ship will also offer the Adrenaline Peak climbing wall, the Lost Dunes mini-golf course, and a variety of sports courts.
Adults will benefit from an expanded Swim & Tonic swim-up bar, while families can enjoy new attractions at Splashaway Bay. Category 6, one of the largest water parks at sea, will introduce two new family raft slides, alongside the first funnel raft slide at sea and updated elements of the Storm Chasers mat-racing slides.
Dining will be a major focus onboard, with 28 venues planned, the most in Royal Caribbean’s fleet. Among the new concepts is the Orleans Parish Supper Club, offering a multi-course experience with live jazz, cocktails, and Cajun and Creole cuisine inspired by New Orleans’ French Quarter.
The train-themed Royal Railway dining experience, first introduced on Utopia of the Seas, will also return. The company said Royal Railway – Hero Station will deliver immersive meals that “transport diners by train car to new destinations through a combination of entertainment, food and technology.”
The AquaDome Market food hall will return with four new concepts, along with dessert offerings at Crème de la Crêpe and fresh juices at Simply Pressed. Meanwhile guests in the Surfside area will have access to new interactive cooking classes at a yet-to-be-announced venue.
The ship will also include a range of well-known dining options such as Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, Izumi sushi bar, Chops Grille, and Hooked Seafood. Casual spots like El Loco Fresh, Basecamp, and Sorrento’s will also be available.
In terms of accommodations, Hero of the Seas will introduce new options, including the Ultimate Family Treehouse, a three-level suite designed with a treehouse theme. This stateroom will feature a rooftop terrace, private whirlpool, two-level teen area, and two main bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and balconies.
Families will also be able to choose from the Ultimate Family Townhouse with direct access to Surfside, Surfside Family Suites, and Family Infinite Ocean View Balcony rooms.
The 5,610-passenger ship is scheduled to begin operations from PortMiami in August 2027, offering seven-night cruises to destinations across the Western and Eastern Caribbean, as well as the Bahamas.
