interzum, the leading global trade fair for furniture manufacturing and interior design, reported a successful 2025 edition, attracting around 60,000 industry professionals from 157 countries. The event also welcomed more than 1,600 exhibitors representing 57 nations. This year’s central theme, “Rethinking Resources: Circular and Bio-based Solutions,” highlighted the industry's pivot toward sustainable practices.

Matthias Pollmann, vice president of trade fair management at Koelnmesse GmbH, praised the industry's forward-thinking mindset: “interzum 2025 has demonstrated the strength of this industry’s will to innovate and the strength of its desire for sustainable change.”

He continued, “We’re already looking ahead to the next event, where we intend to keep on supporting this process of transformation and stimulating new ideas. Our aim is to continue to offer the industry a platform where global trends are not only discussed but actively shaped.”

Held from May 20–23 at the Koelnmesse Fairgrounds in Cologne, Germany, the four-day event further solidified interzum’s reputation as the premier gathering for the international furniture and interior design supply chain. Top visitor countries included Italy, China, Spain, Poland, and the Netherlands.

The trade fair was organized into three core segments:

  • Function and Components
  • Materials and Nature
  • Textile and Machinery

Sustainability was a key focus throughout the event. Exhibitors showcased innovations like recycled foam, reclaimed wood fibers, and more efficient metal recycling technologies.

The event’s programming supported these themes with three interzum Trend Forums, which addressed topics such as circular material use and sustainable furniture development. The interzum Trend Stage featured global trend analyses, expert talks, and updates on evolving regulations, while the Product Stage hosted live demos and engaging discussions.

A highlight of the event was the interzum award, which included a special category titled “Rethinking Resources.” Out of 146 submissions from 80 companies across 23 countries, 66 entries received awards, with 12 receiving the prestigious “Best of the Best” distinction. Winning projects were displayed along Boulevard North.

For more casual interactions, the #ILoveMyinterzum space offered attendees a relaxed setting for networking and informal meetings, reinforcing the event’s community atmosphere.
