A global marine claims and recovery services company has reported that the Japanese-flagged oil product tanker Sanwa Maru ran aground on January 6. The incident occurred east of Esancho, Japan.
Initial attempts to refloat the vessel were unsuccessful, but efforts to free the tanker are ongoing, according to the report.
The Sanwa Maru was built in 2018 and measures 104.95 meters in length and 16 meters in breadth. Data indicates the vessel departed from Tomakomai, Japan, on the same day of the grounding.
Further updates on the situation are expected as recovery efforts continue.
