Martinique Cruise Arrivals Climb Nearly 11% in 2024–25

Martinique recorded close to an 11 percent rise in cruise traffic for the 2024–25 season, increasing from roughly 421,000 to more than 465,000 embarking and disembarking passengers across 200-plus ship calls.
In a release, officials said the figures underscore the island’s growing draw as both a homeport and a port of call, adding that the French Caribbean destination now sits among the region’s fastest-expanding cruise hubs.
The upswing was further buoyed by MSC Cruises’ decision to restart year-round operations in Martinique beginning in 2027. The MSC Opera is slated to run programs from Fort-de-France during winter 2026–27 and summer 2027—marking the first summer homeporting in recent years.
“These numbers represent more than growth. They demonstrate how Martinique is evolving into a must-visit Caribbean destination,” said Muriel Wiltord, director of the Americas for the Martinique Tourism Authority.
“The return of year-round cruising operations validates our strategic investments in infrastructure and the guest experience,” added Wiltord.
To accommodate the momentum, infrastructure projects are progressing. The Grand Port Maritime de la Martinique has completed a new passenger walkway at the Pointe Simon terminal, and by October a dedicated cruise village—with eight kiosks and tented areas—will open to serve local artisans, tour operators, taxi services, and other stakeholders.
“Martinique’s cruise sector continues to evolve with a strong focus on sustainability, quality experiences and local community impact. These results lay the foundation for an even more dynamic future as we prepare for year-round operations,” added Wiltord.
Looking ahead to the coming season, Martinique expects ships from more than 30 cruise brands across its eight active ports, including lines based in Europe, the UK, and North America.
