Norwegian Viva Brings Thousands of Visitors to Alexandria

The Port of Alexandria in Egypt recently hosted three calls from Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Viva between September and October, according to a press release from the port authority.
Over the course of these visits, the 2023-built ship brought nearly 14,000 passengers to the historic Mediterranean port city.
Warm Welcome for the Norwegian Viva
During the ship’s most recent call on October 13, 2025, port officials organized a special reception attended by representatives from several key agencies, including the Alexandria Port Authority, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Tourism, the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, the Alexandria Governorate, and the Ministry of Interior.
The port authority confirmed that the Viva’s arrival was carefully coordinated, with tugs, pilot boats, and security vessels ensuring a smooth and secure entry into port. In addition, radar monitoring was used throughout the maneuver to maintain the highest safety standards.
Once the ship was alongside, the General Administration of Passenger Movement greeted guests and efficiently completed all arrival procedures.
“Their procedures were completed smoothly and easily in just a few minutes,” the Alexandria Port Authority stated.
Exploring Egypt’s Landmarks
Following disembarkation, passengers enjoyed guided tours of Egypt’s most famous attractions before the ship departed for Greece on October 14, 2025.
The Norwegian Viva will make another call in Alexandria on October 21, 2025, as part of its Eastern Mediterranean fall season. The visit is included in a nine-night voyage departing from Piraeus, Greece, on October 19, and concluding in Istanbul, Turkey.
The itinerary also includes Mykonos, Rhodes, Kusadasi, Limassol, and Santorini, offering guests a diverse selection of destinations across Greece, Turkey, and Cyprus.
A Busy Season for Alexandria
The Port of Alexandria has seen a surge in cruise activity this year. In September, it welcomed Aroya Cruises’ Aroya and Holland America Line’s Nieuw Statendam, while in August, Virgin Voyages’ Resilient Lady and Holland America’s Oosterdam also made port calls.
With its growing cruise traffic and strategic position in the Eastern Mediterranean, Alexandria continues to strengthen its status as a key destination for international cruise lines.
