On July 12, the Swedish passenger ship Stockholm struck a quay at Kastellholmen, a small islet in central Stockholm, following a mechanical malfunction. Despite the impact, all 204 passengers aboard escaped injury.

The 658 GT vessel was completing a return leg of an excursion through the Baltic Sea when a critical failure in the steering system caused the crew to lose control. As a precaution, passengers were informed of the problem before the ship collided with the dock.

The bow of the ship plowed into the wooden quay, causing substantial damage to the structure. However, there were no injuries reported among the passengers, and the vessel remained structurally sound, with no water ingress or environmental contamination detected.

A tugboat was quickly dispatched to assist and successfully towed the vessel from the scene. Authorities, including Sweden’s maritime police and the Swedish Transport Agency, have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the incident and assess any safety implications.
