On July 22, the inland passenger vessel Rigoletto, traveling from Stavoren to Harlingen, made contact with the lock gates at the Lorentz locks in Kornwerderzand, Netherlands. Fortunately, no passengers were injured during the incident.

The allision occurred around 4:30 p.m. local time and resulted in minor damage to the ship's bow. Despite the impact, Rigoletto was able to continue its voyage shortly thereafter. However, the lock was temporarily closed to maritime traffic as a precaution.

Rijkswaterstaat, the Dutch water management authority, carried out an immediate on-site inspection to evaluate any structural damage and to verify the safe operation of the lock. As a result, ten recreational boats experienced brief delays during the inspection period.
