Two Incidents on Carnival Splendor Shock Passengers
A tragic situation unfolded on board the cruise ship Carnival Splendor, where two separate incidents during the same voyage have deeply affected passengers.
The first occurred during a shore excursion at Moreton Island, located off the coast of Queensland. A woman from Tasmania died while snorkeling. Attempts were made to revive her on the beach, but they were unsuccessful.
A second serious incident took place later in the voyage as the ship made its way back to Sydney. A male passenger is believed to have gone overboard.
Concern was raised by his family after they were unable to locate him, which led to an immediate response from the crew. CCTV footage was later reviewed and confirmed that he had climbed over a safety railing before entering the water.
Carnival Cruise Line stated that authorities have been informed and will continue investigating once the vessel returns to port. The company also said that support is being provided to the affected families through its Care Team.
Carnival Splendor, which carries around 3,000 passengers and operates year-round from Sydney, departed on April 15 and is due back on Sunday.
