Pipe Failure Floods Cabins Aboard MSC Seaview
A ruptured pipe onboard MSC Seaview caused flooding in multiple guest cabins and an interior corridor on Monday, January 12, 2026, while the vessel was en route from Búzios to Salvador, according to local media reports.
Images and video shared online showed water spreading through accommodation areas and along internal passageways. Passengers reported that crew members explained a pressurized water pipe had failed, allowing water to enter guest spaces. During cleanup operations, some guests were temporarily relocated to a bar area on one of the ship’s decks.
MSC Cruises confirmed that the incident involved a pipe connected to the vessel’s fire safety system. The company said onboard technical teams quickly addressed the issue and carried out cleaning in the affected areas.
“A leak was identified in a water pipe that is part of the ship’s fire safety system, resulting in water entering some guest cabins and a common area corridor. The problem was quickly resolved by our technical teams, and all affected areas underwent thorough cleaning. Guests were promptly assisted, and at no time was there any risk to their safety. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to our guests.”
According to MSC Cruises, the situation was fully resolved within approximately two hours.
