Royal Caribbean Expands Artist Program to Legend of the Seas
Royal Caribbean has announced an expansion of its Artist Discovery Program, which will now include the Legend of the Seas and invite submissions from emerging artists across the Caribbean and Central America.
According to the company, artists can submit their work through March 1. Those selected will be commissioned to create large-scale murals in six different areas onboard the ship.
“Our Artist Discovery Program is a testament to how Royal Caribbean creates culturally immersive experiences for guests, connecting vacationers of all ages with the destinations we visit around the world,” said Michael Bayley, president and chief executive officer of Royal Caribbean.
“We’re excited to expand the program to include emerging artists from Central America alongside the Caribbean and increase the number of locations for large-scale murals on the Legend from four to six, creating more opportunities for artists to highlight the diverse destinations we visit through their work.”
The chosen artists will paint murals in six onboard locations, including the Royal Promenade neighborhood, the embarkation area, the Suite Sundeck Lobby, and the Suite Sundeck.
Applicants are required to submit five examples of original concept work, along with a short artist statement and a resume.
The Artist Discovery Program has previously showcased artwork aboard Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas, as well as at Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in Nassau, the Bahamas.
Legend of the Seas is scheduled to operate seven-night Western Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona, Spain, and Rome, Italy, in 2026. In November 2026, the ship will reposition to Fort Lauderdale, offering six-night Western Caribbean and eight-night Southern Caribbean itineraries.
