Scenic Marks Historic French Meeting of River & Ocean Ships

Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours recently celebrated a milestone as two of its vessels met for the first time, the company announced in a press release.
The special meeting took place in Honfleur, France, on September 19, 2025, when the river ship Scenic Gem crossed paths with the expedition vessel Scenic Eclipse.
To commemorate the occasion, Captains Ludovic Libs (Scenic Gem) and Radomir Novosel (Scenic Eclipse) participated in a ceremonial presentation.
According to Scenic, the event highlights the brand’s “commitment to innovation and redefining ultra-luxury cruising on both rivers and oceans.”
“This unprecedented meeting of the Scenic Eclipse and the Scenic Gem is a proud milestone for Scenic,” said Ken Muskat, president of Scenic Group USA/LATAM. “It not only underscores our dual leadership in ultra-luxury river and ocean cruising, but also exemplifies how we continually create once-in-a-lifetime moments for our guests.”
To mark the day, Scenic Eclipse’s culinary team, led by Pastry Chef Jed Samson and Executive Chef Viktor Malek, created a cake depicting Honfleur’s harbor complete with edible models of both ships.
Guests were also invited to tour each vessel for a firsthand look at their unique offerings. Additionally, Scenic Eclipse passengers enjoyed a talk by guest guide Ben Baillie from the Scenic Gem, who shared insights into the region’s history.
Scenic noted that the Scenic Gem is one of the few river vessels capable of docking in central Honfleur, while the Scenic Eclipse is equally at home exploring polar destinations or cruising the coasts of Europe and the Mediterranean.
The meeting was described as a reflection of Scenic’s philosophy of placing guests at the center of “enriching all-inclusive journeys” while enhancing their travel experience.
