Tanker Gorizont-1 Hits Pier at Kazan River Port

On the evening of June 2, the Russian-flagged tanker Gorizont-1 struck the Columbia pier at Kazan River Port, located along the Volga River in Kazan, Russia. Fortunately, the incident resulted in no injuries or environmental contamination.
The vessel sustained visible damage to its bow section, though the impact occurred above the waterline. River navigation continued without interruption, and the ship remained stable following the collision.
An official inquiry has been initiated to determine what led to the incident. The regional Transport Prosecutor’s Office is currently evaluating whether any maritime safety regulations were breached. Authorities have confirmed that legal actions will be taken should any violations be uncovered.
