Passengers aboard MSC Seashore faced a brief moment of concern early Tuesday morning after reports circulated that a man had fallen overboard. The situation was later confirmed to be a false alarm.

The incident occurred shortly after the ship departed Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Cruises’ private island destination in the Bahamas. The vessel had spent the day there during a four-night Bahamas itinerary.

At around midnight on March 10, a report began spreading onboard suggesting that a passenger had gone overboard from Deck 8. As a precaution, the ship altered course while crew members used searchlights to scan the surrounding waters.

Meanwhile, officers reviewed recordings from the vessel’s surveillance cameras and overboard detection systems. Their investigation found no indication that any passenger had fallen or intentionally entered the water.

To verify that everyone was safe, guests were asked to return to their cabins while the crew conducted a full headcount. Staff used cruise card records to confirm the presence of all passengers and crew members.

Shortly after 1 a.m., the captain announced over the public address system that everyone onboard had been accounted for and that the incident had been a false alarm.

The brief diversion did not impact the cruise schedule, and MSC Seashore continued its voyage toward Nassau as originally planned.
