Western Bulk Launches Lumber and Projects Team in Bergen
Norwegian dry bulk operator Western Bulk has announced the establishment of a new lumber and projects team based in Bergen.
The company said the move represents a key milestone in expanding its commercial platform and reflects its strategy of building strong niche capabilities alongside its core dry bulk business. The new team is scheduled to begin operations on May 1, 2026.
“The newly appointed team brings extensive hands-on experience within lumber, project, and breakbulk cargoes, further strengthening Western Bulk’s ability to serve customers,” the company said.
The team will include Henrik Lahn-Johannessen and Thomas Johansen handling commercial activities, supported by Kjell Magne Veka in operations. Together, they bring a combination of solid commercial expertise and experience in managing complex cargo movements.
“Their expertise and market knowledge fit very well with our strategy of building a diversified commercial platform, where specialist teams can thrive while benefiting from the scale, systems, and global reach of Western Bulk,” said Torbjørn Gjervik, CEO of Western Bulk.
