Wonder Of The Seas Returns to Miami After Onboard Fight

The Royal Caribbean ship Wonder of the Seas returned to PortMiami on Monday evening after a fight onboard left several passengers injured and prompted an emergency response.
The incident occurred during the vessel’s four-day Bahamas cruise, which departed Miami on September 15. In a statement, the cruise line confirmed: “Our team provided medical care to adult guests who were involved in an altercation onboard, and the guests are being treated for their injuries. We notified local authorities and are working closely with them. As this is an ongoing investigation, we have no more information to share at this time.”
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed that personnel responded to a medical call at the cruise terminal on North America Way after the ship returned earlier than planned.
Passengers reported that the altercation took place near the pool deck. Witnesses described people running toward the scene before the children’s pool was roped off. Shortly afterward, the captain informed guests that the ship was turning back so an injured passenger could be hospitalized.
One passenger, Doug Quixote, posted on X: “Ship had to turn around and go back to port because of a medical emergency. Cabin next door says there was a fight at the pool and it appears someone was injured bad enough to require hospitalization.”
Social media posts from other guests confirmed that law enforcement boarded the ship once it docked. One noted, “there were a bunch of cops on the pier and a bunch of people got off with their luggage,” while others speculated about the seriousness of the injuries and questioned why a helicopter evacuation was not used.
