MarineXchange (MXP) has launched a new AI-powered feature for its in-cabin interactive TV system designed to help cruise lines boost onboard revenue, the company said in a statement.

The technology allows passengers to book activities and services directly from their cabin televisions. Instead of using the TV only for entertainment or information, guests can reserve shore excursions, restaurant tables, spa treatments, fitness sessions, beauty salon appointments, or onboard events through voice interaction with the MXP Chatbot.

Using the microphone on the TV remote control, passengers can speak with the AI assistant, which can understand natural speech in multiple languages.

In a press release, the company explained that this development transforms the cabin television into a centrally managed and data-driven sales channel that supports the cruise line’s overall commercial strategy. The system can also present personalized service suggestions on the MXP iTV based on guest profiles, past behavior, and individual preferences.

MXP believes the feature could not only increase onboard spending but also improve how ships manage their available capacity. Since each cabin television effectively becomes a 24-hour AI-powered self-service booking tool, timed recommendations could help fill open slots for onboard services and activities.

In addition, offering recommendations tailored to guests’ interests may enhance the overall cruise experience. The company also noted that the ability to book services by voice directly from the cabin provides added convenience for passengers.

According to the press release, MXP’s in-cabin iTV software runs natively on modern smart TVs. For older television models, the system can also operate through a set-top box.
