Anthem of the Seas Celebrates 10 Years of Global Cruises

Royal Caribbean International’s Anthem of the Seas has officially marked a decade in service, having been delivered to the cruise line on April 10, 2015.
Constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, the 158,000-ton vessel is the sister ship to the Quantum of the Seas, which launched in 2014. After a formal handover in Bremerhaven, Anthem of the Seas set sail for Southampton to begin its inaugural cruise season.
Prior to welcoming its first passengers, the ship was christened by British actress Emma Wilby in a naming ceremony held at its homeport on April 20, 2015.
During its debut season, the ship operated roundtrip voyages from Southampton, offering a mix of itineraries to destinations in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, and the Canary Islands.
Later, the 4,204-passenger vessel crossed the Atlantic to launch cruises from New York’s Cape Liberty Cruise Port. Its itineraries included trips to Bermuda, the Caribbean, Canada, and New England.
Over the years, Anthem of the Seas alternated between seasons in the U.K. and the New York area, but more recently, it has expanded to new regions. In the winter of 2024-2025, the ship made its Southeast Asia debut, offering cruises from Singapore as part of a fleet realignment.
Earlier this year, Anthem also began its first summer season in Alaska, sailing week-long voyages from Seattle that featured stops in both the U.S. and Canada.
Before transitioning to the West Coast, the ship underwent scheduled drydock maintenance in Singapore. The work included technical upgrades and minor enhancements to public spaces and guest accommodations.
In October, the ship will make another debut—this time in the South Pacific. Operating out of Sydney, Australia, Anthem of the Seas will offer cruises to scenic destinations such as Airlie Beach, Nouméa, and Picton.
