On October 1, the cargo vessel MSC Silver II collided with the fishing boat Prathyasha in the Arabian Sea near Fort Kochi, India. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Nearby fishing boats alerted the cargo ship about another vessel in its path. While the MSC Silver II reduced speed, it still brushed against the Prathyasha, prompting several crew members from the fishing boat to jump into the sea. All were later rescued and confirmed safe.

The Prathyasha sustained structural damage and lost a significant number of fishing nets in the incident. The cargo ship, however, reported no damage or injuries among its crew.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Reports note that the primary shipping channel lies roughly 20 kilometers from where the collision took place, though it remains unclear why the cargo ship was navigating closer to the fishing grounds.
