Carnival Luminosa to Sail from San Francisco Starting in 2026
After becoming part of Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet in 2022, the Carnival Luminosa will begin operating out of a new homeport in 2026.
The 2009-built ship will join Carnival's West Coast fleet and offer voyages departing from San Francisco. According to a recent announcement, the Luminosa will sail to both Alaska and Mexico during the summer season.
Among its offerings will be ten-night trips to Alaska and Canada, as well as four-night weekend getaways to Baja, Mexico. Longer itineraries, departing on Mondays and Thursdays, will feature visits to destinations such as Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Prince Rupert. Scenic glacier cruising through Tracy Arm Fjord is also included.
The shorter four-day weekend trips will visit Baja, Mexico, with a stop in Ensenada and two days spent at sea.
The ship’s inaugural season from San Francisco starts on April 23, 2026, and runs until September 10, 2026. Before that, the Carnival Luminosa will reposition from Australia via a 22-day Carnival Journey cruise departing in early April 2026 from Brisbane to San Francisco. This voyage includes stops at Pacific destinations like Fiji, Tahiti, Moorea, and Honolulu.
Following its West Coast season, the vessel will embark on an 18-day journey to Alaska and Japan. The trip, departing on September 20, 2026, will make stops in Otaru and Kobe in Japan, as well as popular Alaskan ports, before arriving in Yokohama.
Carnival’s 2026 schedule in Alaska also includes the Carnival Miracle and Carnival Spirit departing from Seattle. Together with the Luminosa, these ships will offer 53 cruises to Alaska during the summer season.
