Crew members aboard MSC Divina helped rescue people from a vessel in distress late last night while the cruise ship was sailing near Roatán, Honduras, according to information shared by a crew member onboard.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly after the ship departed the Honduran port. The captain informed passengers and crew over the ship’s public address system that a distress signal had been received from a nearby boat.

A crew member who witnessed the response said the cruise ship immediately acted on the emergency call and began a rescue operation.

“Last night we rescued a yacht boat who gave a distress signal,” the crew member said, adding that the announcement was made by the captain while the ship was at sea after leaving Roatán.

The crew member reported that about four people were brought to safety during the rescue. However, details about their condition or the circumstances that led the yacht to issue the distress call have not yet been confirmed.

It is also not yet known what caused the emergency or where the rescued individuals were taken after being brought onboard MSC Divina.
