Carnival Sunshine Reveals New Europe and Africa Sailings

Carnival Cruise Line has announced its 2027–28 deployment plans for CarnivalSunshine, featuring the line’s first-ever calls in Africa, additional European destinations, the return of popular ports, and a dedicated solar eclipse voyage.

“We’re excited to bring the Carnival Sunshine to an expanded lineup of destinations that offer our guests even more ways to explore Europe and beyond,” said President Christine Duffy.

According to a company press release, from late May through October 2027 the Sunshine will operate a series of Mediterranean and North African itineraries. These include week-long and extended cruises sailing from Barcelona, Spain, and Civitavecchia, Italy.

The itineraries span a wide range of destinations across Italy, Spain, France, Turkey, Montenegro, Tunisia, and Morocco.

The season also marks Carnival’s first visits to Africa, with port calls in La Goulette near Tunis, Tunisia, and Tangier, Morocco. New European additions include Bari in Italy, Bar in Montenegro, and Ajaccio on the French island of Corsica.

At the same time, the Sunshine will revisit a number of guest-favorite ports, such as Genoa, Salerno, Palermo, and Catania in Italy, Palma de Mallorca in Spain, and Izmir in Turkey.

One of the standout sailings is a special solar eclipse cruise departing Barcelona on July 25, 2027, timed to coincide with the eclipse on August 2, 2027.

Ahead of its European season, Carnival Sunshine will depart Norfolk, Virginia, on May 15, 2027, embarking on a 15-day transatlantic crossing to Dover, England.

From May 30, 2027, the ship will sail from Dover to Barcelona on itineraries that include ports throughout Western Europe. At the conclusion of the season, the Sunshine will return to the United States with a transatlantic voyage from Barcelona to Miami.

In total, the ship will offer a varied program of 15 European sailings during the season.

After returning to the U.S., Carnival Sunshine will begin a new deployment from Galveston, Texas, starting November 17, 2027. The ship will operate a mix of 10-day and four-day cruises, joining Carnival Breeze, Carnival Horizon, and Carnival Jubilee at the homeport.
