Carnival Supports Jamaica’s Recovery After Hurricane Melissa
Carnival Cruise Line is increasing its efforts to help Jamaica rebuild after Hurricane Melissa.
Along with providing donations and relief supplies, the company is returning its ships to ports that are already prepared to receive visitors.
“As we live our everyday lives, it’s easy to forget what happened in the past. That’s part of life, but we must not forget what Melissa did to Jamaica,” the company said in an update.
The storm, regarded as one of the most powerful hurricanes ever to hit the region, made landfall on Oct. 28, 2025, causing widespread damage to infrastructure and local communities.
“We are still unable to go to Montego Bay. They are very much in a cleanup process and getting the infrastructure back together again,” a spokesperson said, noting that upcoming calls scheduled for Montego Bay will be diverted.
“We are going to do our best to divert you to Ocho Rios, which is open and ready and already welcoming our ships,” they added.
The Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Horizon, and Carnival Pride are among the vessels that have already visited Ocho Rios following the hurricane.
“We thank you once again for going to Ocho Rios, getting off the ship, and spending perhaps a few dollars whether it’s on an excursion from the ship or doing some shopping,” Carnival said in a message to guests.
“Your money, of course, will really help them get back on their feet again. We are so glad that we can dock our ships in Ocho Rios,” they added.
“Keep thinking of the people of Jamaica; they have been through hell and back, and we are happy to be doing our little bit to help.”
Earlier this month, Carnival delivered relief supplies to affected communities across the island. Carnival Corporation, together with the Miami HEAT and the Micky & Madeleine Arison Family Foundation, also contributed $1 million to Direct Relief to assist ongoing recovery efforts.
