Celebrity Millennium Marks 25 Years of Sailing

The Celebrity Millennium has officially celebrated 25 years in service, having been delivered by the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard on June 22, 2000.
Ordered in 1998, the 2,170-passenger vessel was the first of Celebrity Cruises’ Millennium-class ships. Considered an evolution of the earlier Century class, the new design introduced advanced technology such as pod propulsion.
The Millennium also stood out as the first Celebrity ship to feature a specialty restaurant, along with a cybercafé and music library.
Following delivery, the ship sailed to Southampton, where it was christened by godmother Robyn Roux on June 26, 2000. Its maiden season began shortly after, with a 14-night inaugural voyage through Northern Europe and the Mediterranean, visiting ports such as Oslo, Rostock, and Stockholm.
Later that year, the 91,000-ton vessel repositioned to North America, stopping in New York before reaching Fort Lauderdale for winter sailings in the Caribbean. Over the years, the Millennium expanded its deployment to Alaska, Asia, Australia, and the U.S. West Coast.
Currently, the ship is offering itineraries across Asia and the Pacific, including Japan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam. Future sailings also feature departures from Incheon, Mumbai, Bali, Singapore, and Yokohama.
The Millennium has seen extensive upgrades throughout its career, most notably a 2019 transformation under the Celebrity Revolution program, which included redesigned staterooms, refreshed dining venues, and new onboard features.
