Diamond Princess Adds Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill
Princess Cruises has introduced two new specialty dining venues aboard Diamond Princess, the company announced in a press release.
The ship has recently debuted Crown Grill, its signature steakhouse, along with Makoto Ocean, a new restaurant specializing in Edomae-style sushi. Princess said reservations for both venues are now available on all sailings, further enhancing the ship’s onboard dining offerings.
“With Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill now onboard the Diamond Princess, and also recently added onboard sister ship the Sapphire Princess, we’re proud to enhance the guest experience as Diamond Princess sails across Asia and as we look ahead to our dual-ship Japan season in 2027,” said Sami Kohen, Princess Cruises’ vice president of food and beverage.
Makoto Ocean, which first launched aboard Sun Princess and Star Princess, brings the cuisine of Chef Makoto Okuwa to Diamond Princess.
Located on Deck 7, the venue features an upscale menu of signature dishes such as truffle salmon, snow crab temaki, and toro tartare. Guests can also enjoy handcrafted cocktails inspired by Japanese flavors, including the Genmai Negroni and Kodai No Hana, which combines yuzu juice with traditional Doburoku sake.
Princess said the new restaurant reflects its “continued commitment to elevated, globally inspired dining at sea.”
Crown Grill has also joined the ship’s dining lineup, described by the cruise line as a “longtime Princess guest favorite.” The steakhouse is located in the former Savoy Dining Room on Deck 5 and offers premium aged beef, chops, and fresh seafood in what Princess called an “elegant, welcoming atmosphere and attentive service.”
Both specialty venues are priced at $55 per person and are included for guests sailing with the Princess Premier package.
Diamond Princess is currently operating roundtrip cruises from Singapore, offering itineraries that call in destinations across Asia, including Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
Looking ahead, Princess Cruises plans its largest-ever Japan season in 2027, featuring both Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess sailing from the Tokyo area throughout the season. Referred to as a “major milestone for the brand’s legacy in Asia,” the expanded schedule will include 78 departures across 50 different itineraries, with cruise lengths ranging from seven to 28 days.
