Fishing Boats Collide with Cargo Ship off Vietnam Coast
On November 1st, a serious maritime collision occurred approximately 15 kilometres from Vung Tau, in southern Vietnam. The incident involved two fishing boats and the Panama-flagged general cargo ship Sea Noble. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.
The collision happened while the fishing vessels were stationary, carrying out repairs on a damaged throttle line. The impact caused both fishing boats to sink, forcing all 11 crew members to leap into the water and cling to life buoys as they drifted at sea.
Nearby fishing boats quickly responded to the distress, rescuing all the fishermen and handing them over to the Vietnam Border Guard. The survivors were safely brought to shore later that night. One crew member, who suffered facial injuries and chest pain, received immediate medical care.
After the collision, the Sea Noble was anchored off the coast of Vung Tau while authorities began their investigation into the incident.
