Fog Delays Carnival Spirit Arrival and Embarkation in Mobile
Carnival Spirit was forced to arrive late in Mobile on Sunday 28th December after heavy fog reduced visibility in the port area. In an update shared by Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heald, the delay was confirmed to have impacted the ship’s embarkation schedule.
With port operations temporarily suspended due to poor visibility, the 2001-built vessel was unable to berth until around four hours after its planned arrival. Heald noted that the ship eventually docked later in the morning.
“Once the ship arrives, we must allow debarking guests to leave the cruise terminal and parking facilities before embarking guests can be accommodated,” he said.
Because of the delay, guests booked on the Dec. 28, 2025, sailing were instructed to postpone their arrival at the Mobile Cruise Terminal by three hours.
“Thank you, I promise that the wonderful crew will be waiting to bring you all the fun you deserve,” Heald added.
Carnival Spirit has been operating from Mobile since late October, offering a series of itineraries to destinations in the Caribbean and the Bahamas. The Dec. 28, 2025, cruise, which includes celebrations on board for New Year’s Eve, is scheduled to call at three ports in the Bahamas.
The original eight-night itinerary includes a visit to Nassau, along with calls at two of Carnival’s private destinations in the Bahamas: Celebration Key and Princess Cays. Although the ship was initially scheduled to depart Mobile at 3:30 pm, it is now expected to sail later in the evening. It remains unclear whether the delay will affect the planned itinerary.
Separately, Carnival also notified guests of possible delays involving CarnivalMiracle, which was due to arrive in Tampa on December 28th. Despite the advisory, turnaround operations for Miracle at the Florida port continued as planned.
