Former Costa Magica Reportedly Sold to Tianjin Orient
The former Costa Magica has reportedly been sold to Tianjin Orient International Cruises, according to information shared by travel advisors on Chinese social media who were briefed on the company’s intentions.
Built in 2003, the ship has been laid up in Greece under the ownership of Seajets since 2023, when the Greek ferry operator purchased it.
Seajets had previously been linked to the failed Neonyx cruise venture, which planned to launch short cruises in Greece for the summer of 2024 but never reached operation.
According to one travel agency post, the vessel is now expected to head to Asia and begin sailing from Tianjin as the Ideal starting in the summer of 2026.
If confirmed, the former Costa Magica would join the Dream at Tianjin Orient. The Dream, formerly known as the Sun Princess, has been operating for the Chinese cruise line since 2023.
