A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Cruise Terminal G at PortMiami took place yesterday, Thursday, January 8, and brought together Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, PortMiami, Royal Caribbean Group, and Lemartec-NV2A JV.

According to a press release, the new LEED Certified terminal will be a state-of-the-art facility designed to serve ships from Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea.

The cruise complex is being developed through a partnership between Miami-Dade County, PortMiami, Royal Caribbean Group, and Lemartec-NV2A JV, with the terminal expected to open by the end of 2027.

Beyond the cruise terminal itself, the project also includes a multi-level parking structure connected to a ground-level intermodal transportation hub. PortMiami said Terminal G will be designed to accommodate next-generation cruise ships carrying up to 7,000 passengers.

Mayor Daniella Levine Cava was joined at the ceremony by Jimmy Morales, chief operating officer of Miami-Dade County; Hydi Webb, director and CEO of PortMiami; and members of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners.

Royal Caribbean Group Chairman and CEO Jason Liberty was also scheduled to attend, along with Manuel R. Garcia-Tuñon, president and CEO of Lemartec, and Gilberto Neves, president and CEO of NV2A.

The terminal is part of a $345 million development that began in July 2025 with the initial phase of the project involving demolishing the former Terminal G facilities, which originally opened in 1999.

Key features of the new terminal include a building layout that separates passenger movement by floor, helping to improve circulation and reduce congestion during embarkation and disembarkation. The design is also intended to contribute to PortMiami’s evolving skyline.
