Disney Cruise Line has revealed that actor Robert Downey Jr. will serve as the official godparent of its newest and largest ship, Disney Adventure, ahead of the vessel’s inaugural sailing from Singapore on March 10.

The announcement aligns closely with Downey’s long-standing association with Marvel. Widely recognized for his role as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he will take part in the traditional ceremony to formally “bless” the ship. The connection is particularly fitting, as DisneyAdventure includes an entire deck devoted to Marvel-themed experiences.

Downey expressed his enthusiasm for the role, humorously acknowledging the scale of the occasion. “As the largest ship in the Disney fleet, a gargantuan blessing must be bestowed,” he said.

Measuring 208,000 gross tons and accommodating up to 6,700 guests, DisneyAdventure is approximately 44 percent larger than Disney’s Wish-class vessels. The ship introduces several new attractions, including the Ironcycle Test Run, a full-scale roller coaster inspired by Tony Stark. Guests will also find seven distinct themed areas onboard, such as Marvel Landing, Disney Imagination Garden, and San Fransokyo Street.

Homeported in Singapore, the vessel will feature dining options and onboard programming influenced by Asian cultures, combined with Disney’s signature immersive storytelling.
