The cargo vessel MSC Alexandra lost control during severe weather at Mundra Port in Gujarat, India, after its mooring lines failed, causing it to drift and strike a jetty that was under construction.

The incident took place on March 19 while the ship was berthed at the port. Strong winds and heavy gusts hit the area early in the day, placing extreme strain on the mooring lines until they snapped, leaving the vessel adrift.

The same weather conditions also caused containers in the port yard to topple over. In response, port authorities limited the movement of vehicles and personnel across the terminal to maintain safety.
